The Day After

Happy New Years, kids!

Hopefully everyone had a good night. Most likely it didn’t live up to the New Years Eve standards that are impossibly high and out of control. But hopefully a good time, nonetheless. :)

I know I had a lovely dinner and drinks with my bestie, Laura, who made the trip from St. Louis to hang out for a few days…

After sitting around for 2 hours on Saturday, we finally were able to find a restaurant that didn’t require a 3-hour waiting list or spending $150 on a dinner special.

It really did take 2 hours. New Years Eve is a headache and a half.

But we settled on Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba. Which was hardly settling. The plan was to go, put our name on a list, and chill at the bar. However, with a smile and a wink or two, we found ourselves in seats with glasses of wine in our hands in 10 minutes flat.

Not bad.

It was a tapas place, so we split 4 dishes and 2 bottles between the 2 of us and were more than satisfied.

Laura even convinced me to try octopus. Can’t say I wasn’t adventurous in 2011, eh?

It was surprisingly delicious.

After our long and fabulous dinner, we hopped to and from a few places to celebrate with random friends and found ourselves at home with a pizza in the oven and Three to Tango on the television by 2:00.

Does anyone remember how awful that movie was?!?! However, I will watch any movie with Matthew Perry in it. Over and over if I must. I really love him.

This morning was one of a slight headache, but there isn’t one problem pancakes and coffee won’t fix today.

I’m welcoming 2012 with carbs, caffeine, and a raised eyebrow.

I’m watching you, 2012. Surely you can kick 2011′s ass without much of a fight. It won’t be hard.

Enjoy the day off, kiddos. I’ll hopefully peel myself off the couch at some point in order to participate in some retail therapy.

So I’ll amend what I said earlier- pancakes AND shopping are the answer to any problems I have today.

Laters.
